Gardant’s Presence in Indiana Growing

The expansion includes Hammond, Indianapolis and Merrillville communities, as well as other new projects in Indiana.

Gardant’s presence in managing assisted living communities in Indiana is growing.

We are proud to have been selected as the management company for Belvedere Senior Housing, an affordable assisted living community in Merrillville, Indiana. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on June 30 to mark the start of construction of the community.

This past April, Gardant was asked to assume management responsibilities for Oasis at 30th, a 124-apartment affordable assisted living located on the east side of Indianapolis. We have also been selected to manage an affordable assisted living community that is under development in Hammond, Indiana. And we are working with developers on projects proposed for development in northern, central and southern Indiana.

Belvedere Senior Housing

The Belvedere Senior Housing community is designed to serve low-income older adults who need some help to maintain their independence but do not require licensed, skilled nursing care.

The community is being constructed on property in the 300 block of East 90th Dr., near the Methodist Hospital’s Southlake Campus.

The three-story building will house 126 private, studio and one-bedroom apartments. Each of the apartments will feature a kitchenette, spacious bathroom, individually controlled heating and air conditioning, and emergency alert system.

Community areas will include a dining room, café, private dining room, activity and multi-purpose rooms, beauty/barber salon, convenience store, fitness room, library and theater.

Certified staff will be on duty 24-hours a day, seven days a week to provide residents with the personal assistance they need and to provide help with medications.

Support services such as three daily meals, housekeeping and laundry are included.

Residents will also benefit from all of the opportunities that will be available to socialize with friends and neighbors and to participate in activities, wellness programs and special events.

As I mentioned to those attending the groundbreaking ceremony, “our focus will be to provide residents with the Love, Compassion and Dignity they deserve in additional to the help and personal assistance that they need. Our emphasis will be on helping each resident to achieve and maintain as much independence as possible for as long as possible.”

Among those on hand for the groundbreaking ceremony for the $23.4 million development were Zach Leonard of Bravo Properties; Richard Hardaway, President of the Merrillville Town Council; Greg Kolinski of Alston Construction; and Thad Gleason and Mike Koehl of Gleason Architects, P.C.

We operate the two affordable assisted living communities that were developed by Bravo Properties in Illinois. Both of the communities operate through the Illinois Supportive Living program. Deer Path of Huntley is designed to serve adults 22 to 64 years of age with physical disabilities, and St. Anthony of Lansing serves adults 65 years of age and older.

Zach Leonard, developer and owner for The Belvedere, said that his team selected Merrillville to meet the growing housing demands of older adults in the area.

“This is going to be an outstanding project, and there is obviously a need here in the town of Merrillville for assisted living and senior housing,” said Councilman Shawn Pettit.

Over the next year, the project will inject more than $23 million into the local economy, including 2200 construction jobs and 50 permanent full-time jobs.

Construction of Belvedere Senior Housing is scheduled to be completed and the community ready to open for occupancy in the summer of 2017.

We expect to begin accepting reservations for the apartments approximately six months before the community opens for occupancy.

Individuals who would like their name added to the Interest List to receive more information about the Belvedere community when it becomes available can call 1-877-882-1495 toll-free.
