This week, Chrisi Karcz, VP of Clinical Services, is participating in the AIM Advocacy Forum 2024 in Washington DC as a Greater Illinois Alzheimer`s Ambassador. During her time in Washington, DC, she will represent region 9 which includes Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky, and the Alzheimer’s Association in bipartisan advocacy. The priorities (ASKS) for this forum are as follows:
-BOLD (Building Our Largest Dementia) Infrastructure for Alzheimer’s Reauthorization Act of 2024-will renew the nationwide commitment to strengthening Alzheimer`s public health efforts, such as increasing early detection and diagnosis, reducing risk and supporting the needs of caregivers.
-An additional $318 million in FY 2025 for Alzheimer`s research activities at the National Institute of Health (NIH) and $35 million in FY 2025 for implementation of the BOLD Infrastructure for Alzheimer`s Act at the Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention (CDC).
-Accelerating Access to Dementia & Alzheimer`s Provider Training to empower primary care providers to better diagnose Alzheimer`s and other dementia and deliver high-quality person-centered care in community-based settings.

Team members from Gardant and Gardant-managed Supportive Living communities joined the Illinois Health Care Association/Illinois Center for Assisted Living (IHCA/ICAL)for a Day at the Capitol in Springfield, Illinois. The event provided the opportunity to meet with State Senators and Representative and their legislative aides to discuss legislation that impacts nursing homes, assisted living and supportive living communities.

Gardant`s Executive Directors attended their "March Madness" Retreat in Champaign, IL yesterday. Executive Directors and Gardant team members had a lot of fun bonding together, making connections, and planning for the future!

Pat from Heritage Woods of Moline turned 103 last week. She had a great turn out at her birthday party celebration!! Rep. Dan Swanson and his district director were in attendance. They brought our resident a House recognition from Springfield.
Senator Mike Halpin was also in attendance, and he brought our resident a recognition from the Senate from Springfield.
Rep. Gregg Johnson was in attendance and brought our resident a recognition as well. He also stated that a couple weeks after he had visited our building, he was at a Rock Island County housing meeting, and he said they mentioned Heritage Woods of Moline as the “Golden Standard of healthcare”.
Thank you to all that attended our celebration for Pat! It really was a great day!
