We at Gardant we thrilled to learn last week that one of the affordable assisted living communities that we manage would be receiving a 2022 National Silver Quality Award from the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living.

What made us especially proud is that Heritage Woods of McHenry is the only assisted living community in Illinois and only one of three assisted living communities nationwide to be receiving a 2022 Silver Award.

The Silver Award is the second step in the AHCA/NCAL national quality awards program, which is based on the framework for the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Awards program for performance excellence.

Applications for the Silver Award are reviewed and judged against a set of nationally recognized standards for achieving excellence. Recipients must demonstrate continued progress in developing effective approaches to improving quality outcomes for residents and staff.

Last month, we learned that nine Gardant-managed assisted living and memory care communities were recipients of a 2022 National Bronze Quality Award, the first step in the three-step awards program. With these communities added to the mix, 85% of the assisted living and memory care communities Gardant manages have received an ACHA/NCAL national quality award

Located in northern Illinois nearly 50 miles northwest of Chicago, Heritage Woods of McHenry features 100 private apartments for adults 65 and older. The community is certified to operate through the Illinois Supportive Living program so is approved to serve individuals on a Medicaid-waiver for assisted living.

The community provides a wonderful alternative to a nursing home. Residents benefit from living in an apartment that they can furnish and decorate to their taste. The apartments feature a kitchenette with microwave and refrigerator/freezer; spacious bathroom with shower, raised toilet, and grab-bars; individually-controlled heating and air conditioning; and emergency alert system.

Staff is on-duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide residents with personal assistance and help with medications. Support services such as three meals a day, housekeeping and laundry are included.

Residents also benefit from all of the opportunities that are available to socialize with family, friends, and neighbors and to participate in social, recreational, educational, and wellness activities.

Earlier this year, Heritage Woods of McHenry was one of more than 20 Gardant-managed assisted living and memory care communities that were recognized as being among the best in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. https://www.gardant.com/gardant-managed-communities-recognized-for-being-the-best/

“We commend the team at Heritage Woods of McHenry for their commitment to the AHCA/NCAL Quality Awards program and to Gardant’s mission of enriching the lives of residents,” noted Rod Burkett, Gardant’s Chief Executive Officer. “To achieve Silver Award status at the same time the community was dealing with the impact of COVID is quite an accomplishment.”
