This past year was filled with many highlights. Here is a recap of ten of them.
Each year in January, we celebrate National Thank You Month. It is a time to show gratitude, express appreciation, and thank others for the little and the big things they have done to make life better.
The period of time from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day can be hectic. On top of everything else you have to do, there is the decorating, shopping, cooking, gift wrapping, get-togethers with family and friends, and holiday parties. At the same time, the holiday season can be the perfect time of year to consider assisted living.

November is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month. It is a time designed to raise awareness of the progressive brain disease and show support for the estimated 6.5 million adults 65+ in the United States who currently are living with Alzheimer’s.
The Medicare Open Enrollment Period began this past Saturday and continues through Dec. 7. During the Open Enrollment Period, you can look at and compare the health and drug plans that will be available next year and pick the plan or plans that best meet your needs.
Evergreen Village at Bloomington had a visit from Erin Houchin, a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives.. She is running for election in Indiana’s 9th Congressional District.
The Illinois Supportive Living program is a wonderful model for affordable assisted living, creating Wins for residents, families, state and local governments, and taxpayers. The program benefits those of all incomes, especially low-income older adults and adults with disabilities.

For those who find themselves lonely because of isolation, why not move to an environment that provides a wealth of opportunities to socialize with friends old and new and participate in social, recreational, educational and wellness activities and programs. More and more research indicates that social interaction is one of the biggest keys to successful aging.
