At Bowman Estates of Danville, we strive on a daily basis to create a happy and healthy family atmosphere for each resident.
Located in Vermilion County in Central Illinois, Bowman Estates is an affordable assisted living community that Gardant has managed since it opened for occupancy in 2005.
Through our “Eat Smart, Live Strong” program, we offer exercise classes for residents three times a week and encourage residents to make healthy eating choices. To encourage proper hydration, we have drinking stations located throughout the community. At the “What’s Cooking with Angela” classes that I host, we make and share wonderful, tasty and healthy treats.
We work hard, starting weeks in advance, to make the holidays a special time of year.
Our annual Thanksgiving Dinner for residents and their families features turkey, roast beef, chicken with homemade noodles, green bean casserole, scalloped corn, mashed and sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce and homemade dinner rolls. For dessert, we bake 12 kinds of homemade pie, including our favorite butterscotch and sugar cream.
Because we have such a large number of residents and their family members who join us, we set up special dining areas throughout the community, which we decorate beautifully with fall decorations and soft lighting.
Residents and their families love being able to celebrate the holiday together in a beautiful setting with great food and service.
For the holiday season, we also offer residents the opportunity to “feel at home” by making pumpkin and apple butters, homemade jams, and candies, including sugar-free options. As they are preparing these delicious taste treats, they share memories of family and friends of long ago.
We feature the items that we make in our Country Store, where residents can purchase them with cash or the Bowman Bucks they earn for participating in “Eat Smart, Live Strong” activities. They can build a basket with the homemade butters, jams and candies as well as other items available in the Country Store to give as gifts.
Other special events that we hold throughout the year include an Easter Party and Egg Hunt; a Valentine’s Dance with dipped strawberries, carved fruit displays and lighted punch fountains; a Family Picnic held out on the lawn with music, cotton candy and games; and a Halloween Party.
Our focus is on fulfilling Gardant’s mission of providing residents with the Love, Compassion and Dignity that they deserve in addition to the help and assistance that they need.
