Misako’s Story
Origami Therapy
Misako fell in love with creating origami after she heard a story about a young Japanese girl and the snow crane. She shares this story and what the snow crane represents.

“In Japan, for many years the snow crane has been a symbol of beauty, grace, peace and happiness. After the war, a young Japanese girl contracted radiation disease. While gravely ill, she decided to make 1000 cranes and with each one, was a prayer for peace and good health. She died before completing all. Upon hearing her story, her classmates completed them. Thus was born the tradition of the folded paper cranes. Each one a prayer.”

The staff of White Oaks at Huntley and Kindred Hospice worked together to organize the special ceremony. It was officiated by the Kindred Hospice chaplain.

I Love my community
this is my dream job
I love this community. I have worked for Heritage Woods & White Oaks at Huntley for a little over 2 years now, and I look forward to the many more years of love.

When I tell people that I am working my dream job, it’s not defining about what I do for the company, but what the community in a whole does for me. HW & WO is my home away from home. I have been so fortunate to be able to build relationships with the residents, resident families and staff. The thing I love most about this community is the unity.
