Leon and Wilma’s Story: Finding Love Later in Life
Love has different meanings for different people.
True love is understanding each other and feeling compatible with each other.
Wilma and Leon, a couple at our community, found each other late in life. They recently celebrated their first anniversary, and it’s hard to believe they haven’t been together for years. Their love was worth the wait.
It is a joy to have them live at Prairie Living at Chautauqua.
They are active residents. In the past year, they joined us for the 2017 Alzheimer’s Walk and visited veterans at the VA Rehab and Hospice Unit in Marion. They are creating memories together, and both experiences left them humbled.
Leon and Wilma strive to show each other love and make each other happy. They are a living example of true love, and we wish them happiness and many more years together.
Their love is miraculous and hard to put into words. When they found each other, they found their purpose. Our community is helping the Johnsons grow in this next chapter of their lives.
Pet Therapy with Anya: A Little Puppy Love Goes A Long Way
Marilyn and her family have been gracious to share their beautiful puppy, Anya, with us here at Prairie Living at Chautauqua.
For the past several years, Marilyn has lived at Prairie Living, and she knows first hand that there can be times when a little puppy love makes everything seem brighter. She wanted to share this little ray of sunshine with her friends here at the community.
Anya is a sweet puppy who has finished her first level of training, and she comes to Prairie Living as a therapy dog.
Therapy is exactly what Anya gives our residents when she visits every month. She stops by both the east and west sides of our community and makes private visits as well. If someone is unable to come out of their apartment to socialize, we take Anya to them for a home visit. We are greeted with smiles, and often times, tears of joy.
Anya has been such a blessing for all of us here at Prairie Living, and we thank her family for trusting and sharing her with us. And of course, she always has extra kisses for her furless grandma Marilyn.
