Lacey Creek Supportive Living became involved with The Friends of Downers Grove Township Seniors shortly after opening.
Our community is a sponsor of their largest fundraiser of the year, an Oktoberfest celebration. This is the second year for the event, which is being held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Oct. 3 at Oak Trace in Downers Grove.
As part of the event, the group will raffle off baskets to raise money that will reduce the Dial-A-Ride fare for seniors.
The Friends of Downers Grove Township Senior Citizens is a local non-profit organization that was founded originally for the purpose of reducing the Dial-A-Ride fare for seniors. Since then, they have accomplished that mission and continue to keep the reduced rate in place, which has been reduced by 40 percent, and connect seniors with programs and information.
Lacey Creek Supportive Living has been part of the Friends for Downers Grove Township Seniors and helps sponsor events and coordinate fundraising efforts. Our management team has also volunteered at the Rotaryfest in Downers Grove on behalf of the Friends for Downers Grove Township Seniors. This year, the organization has grown and also started an educational speaker series on topics that local seniors have requested, such as scam alerts. They also distribute the Banner News and sponsor the AARP car care clinic and safe driving classes.
It is the mission of the Friends of Downers Grove Township Senior Citizens to foster the independence and well-being of older adults. The group is a resource for funding programs, services, education and information that matters to local seniors.
