The staff at John Evans recently had a door decorating contest to spread some Christmas cheer to their residents. Staff were able to sign up for as many doors as they liked. Prizes were awarded for the top 3 doors.
It was so nice seeing the staff pitch in a help make our residents holiday season a little extra special. Due to the staff to resident ratio, it took a lot of teamwork to make sure everyone had something on their doors. Families also helped by donating paper, tape, ribbon, and items to hang on the apartment door of loved ones.
Our Director of Nursing, Tammy decided to make a Christmas wonderland between two apartments. Residents enjoy seeing the display as they go on their daily walks and the backdrop will be used to make Christmas cards for those wanting to send them to love ones.
The winners of the decorating contest were 1st Place Mary C. for her “Don’t Feed the Reindeer” door. 2nd place was Suzy K. with her “These Are a Few of My Favorite Things.” This was a personalized door with things that resident loves! 3rd place was “Up on the House Top”, by Dawn and Amanda H. (not pictured). Tammy says” She just wanted to do something special for the apartments she picked and did not want to be entered into the contest.”
A big thank you goes out to everyone who helped make our residents Christmas a little brighter.
