So far 2021 is off to a great start! Residents received their second shot of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. This means that residents can start to take part in more face-to-face activities with their peers, of course while still remaining safely socially distant, and continuing to wear a mask.
Some of the activities that have taken place since the residents have been vaccinated include making a Valentine’s wreath with pie pans, painting beautiful masterpieces on canvas, and of course everyone’s favorite, BINGO!
Residents have also had the opportunity to dine with one another, again while being safely socially distant, in the dining room. This had made meals for our residents much more fun! “It was so good to see my neighbors while I enjoyed my breakfast!” Dorris told us.
Residents have been taking advantage of every opportunity to spend time out of their rooms and safely visiting with friends and neighbors. And even better yet, residents have been able to visit with their families in the warm, comfortable, and safe set up in our visitation rooms.
Spirits are definitely being lifted as the local, state, and federal guidelines are being lifted for our residents in long term care facilities. And what better way to toast these changes, than with a Happy Hour To-Go! At the end of the month, residents will be having a Happy Hour to safely visit with friends, neighbors and peers, with a delicious spirit to take back to their room to enjoy!
While residents are very enthusiastic and optimistic about the positive changes already made, they continue to look forward to all the other wonderful possibilities March and the future may bring them! But of course, we would not be able to celebrate and look forward to these wonderful possibilities if our residents and their families were not dedicated to keeping themselves, families, friends, loved ones, neighbors and peers safe. It is because of our fabulous residents that we are able to take this leap as we step into March.
