As summer draws to an end at Heritage Woods of Ottawa, many fun and inventive events have taken place. Residents enjoyed hosting a drive-by lunch in August for our local first responders. All of the on-duty police men and women attended and even the chief of police came and met with residents! It was a wonderful experience the residents really enjoyed, so many smiles were shared! Residents also experienced a drive-by parade just this past weekend where over 35 cars, trucks, and even tractors lined up and paraded through Heritage Wood’s parking lots. There were decorations of streamers and balloons as well as home- made signs of love and support. Residents also participated by making signs of their own to hang from apartment windows!
Another change taking place at Heritage Woods of Ottawa is the Country Store has moved to the first level of the building, and Health Pro Physical Therapy moved in! This new in-house physical therapy program is going to be a great asset to our community. This therapy program will assist in encouraging residents to exercise in the new physical therapy room. Over the past few months many residents have struggled with isolation so this is a great way to gently ease them back into an exercise routine.
Lastly, one more exciting happening at the Woods would be the introduction of window and outdoor visits on our beautiful patio! Heritage Woods of Ottawa’s number one priority has always been resident safety. We will continue to ensure that our residents maintain proper social distancing and other safety measures by monitoring the visits while encouraging family engagement. We will also continue to schedule virtual visits and video chats for our out of town loved ones as well.
So as all things come to an end so has our summer at Heritage Woods of Ottawa. We look forward to the changing of the leaves and positively anticipate new changes that will come our way in this wonderful community!
