Welcome Winter and the busy, joyful month of December! In this issue of Happening at the Woods we have events you don’t want to miss and special dates for community residents and staff on page four. December facts (page 2) includes one we do not want to miss! We officially welcome winter on December 21st! Our newsletter has a great recipe for a quick and simple way to warm up! Fruit Crisp from your microwave! Also, as we see the daylight getting shorter, keep in mind some of you may experience Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). Our article on page 3 tells you what this is and gives you tips to manage if you feel moody or have less energy. Our CEO, Rod Burkett, gives us insight on the retirement of Wayne Smallwood, who has greatly impacted the assisted living sector. You can read some of the highlights of his amazing career on page one. We thank Mr. Smallwood for his dedication and wish him the best in the future!
