October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Here at Heritage Woods of Minooka, we celebrated all those fighting this brave battle by wearing pink every Wednesday and Friday during the month of October.
For the second year in a row, our team came up with a design and reached out to a local vendor who could create breast cancer awareness shirts for the staff. All of the proceeds from shirt sales went to Pink Heals of Joliet. This is a local organization that supports both women and men in our surrounding area who are battling or who have battled any type of cancer. The group visits individuals with cancer and brightens their day by surprising them with a home visit, which includes first responders, a pink police car and a pink fire truck. They present the survivors with flowers and have them sign their vehicle.
After learning of the donation from Heritage Woods, Pink Heals thanked us for our generosity.
This is a worthy cause, and we plan on continuing this wonderful tradition again next year.
