A purposeful life – it’s something everyone seeks to have.

How do we continue to be purposeful as we age?

Many turn to volunteering to make a difference in others’ lives, which in turn gives them that fulfillment or purpose.

At Heritage Woods of Belvidere, we recognize the importance of volunteering and are always looking for opportunities to give back.

We were thrilled to once again participate in a local event that benefits starving children around the globe.

Earlier this month, a group of our residents attended a mobile food pack event hosted by Immanuel Lutheran Church in Belvidere, which benefited Feed My Starving Children.  During this event, which is now in its seventh year, the group exceeded their goal of packing one million meals.

Heritage Woods residents assisted with packing labels that are a vital part of the packing process. This project gave residents a look at a global effort to meet the needs of children who’d otherwise go hungry. We are so very proud to help others and play a small part in helping the organization surpass its goal!

At Heritage Woods of Belvidere, we seek opportunities to serve and make a difference in the lives of others and in the lives of our residents.  We participate in programs with a local kindergarten class on a quarterly basis, playing games that are helping the children learn to read. We also have a baking club that donates sale proceeds to local charities.

As we look to the New Year, we are going to be adding even more opportunities to volunteer and reach out to our community and the world.
