Summer is well into its dog days, and boy, have we felt the heat here in Belvidere. We are relishing some cooler temps this week after just having had some extreme humidity and temperatures.
We have not let that stop our summertime fun. We celebrated the 4th of July with a special BBQ lunch and finished off with an all-American ice cream treats. Our annual Valentines’ Day King and Queen rode in the Heritage Days Parade, too, and they were welcomed by all.
Our Community garden is in full bloom and we are already enjoying the fruits of our labors. The garden is an important part of the community, giving more than just produce. It provides a social activity and opportunity for our residents to bond over gardening tips, or reminisce about the gardens that they so proudly nourished in the past.
We will be gearing up for the local county fair in August, which marks the peak of the summer season for our area residents. Our building has the pleasure of having a front row view of the fairgrounds. We get to see, hear and smell the goings on across the farm field. An outing has been planned to the fair for those wanting to get a chance to experience the fun themselves. We certainly are taking time to enjoy every beautiful day this summer!
