The new year is upon us, and as we reflect on the completion of the holiday season, we can be proud of the efforts made by so many.

Traditionally, the holidays are a time of giving, and it is especially touching to see the efforts made by Heritage Woods residents. Every month, we hold a charity bake sale. We save the proceeds from those sales and use the money for a special cause. This year, residents purchased items for Toys for Tots, which benefits needy families in our area.

We also had employees participate in events that benefited veterans in local nursing centers and supportive living communities.

Fun times included our residents making hand-crafted ornaments that were given away with our community-sponsored Christmas tree. This tree was on display at Hometown Christmas, and then delivered to a local family in need.

Music was abundant in the community as well as we hosted piano players, a recital and choral groups. Attendees enjoyed delicious treats made by our residents. This year, our Bell Choir restarted, and that group of residents held their first holiday performance.

The limitless number of smiles and wishes of good cheer could be seen and heard all throughout the building.

As we start the New Year, let us continue that same spirit of giving.

We are looking forward to a new program for 2020 called Make a Difference Mondays.

Once a month, we will partner with a non-profit organization to learn about what they do and how they touch the lives of others. We will also volunteer our time to that organization for the month. We invite you to our kick-off event for the program, which will take place at 10 a.m. on January 27th at our community.
