Grand Prairie of Macomb hosted its second annual bake sale in February with proceeds going toward activities for residents.

This year’s sale generated more than $400.

We sold items that six residents and myself baked, along with goodies brought in by family members and donations, including cake pops and caramel popcorn puffs. Everything was delicious.

The turnout was better than last year, and more open house fundraising projects are in the works. Residents enjoyed the opportunity to meet with visitors and mingle with them before that afternoon’s bingo game.

Money from the sale will be used to start new activities, such as ceramics, or to purchase supplies for arts and crafts projects. Many residents have set the very ambitious goal of raising enough money to go on a cruise or trip to New York.

We are already looking forward to next year’s bake sale!
