Soon the school bell will be ringing again as summer vacation slowly becomes to an end for Lafayette students. Children returning to the classroom is an exciting time, but for parents can be one of the most expensive times of the year.
Glasswater Creek of Lafayette teamed up with Dog N Suds to help collect donations to help relieve some of the back-to-school blues and stress that parents may be experiencing.
Wednesday July 17th was National Hot Dog Day. What better way to celebrate the occasion than with a delicious Dog N Suds lunch?
Our community offered coney or hot dog meals in exchange for a donation of school supplies. That day, the restaurant served nearly 200 meals — almost double our goal.
Glasswater Creek received an outpouring of donations, including 103 boxes of crayons, 404 pens, 1,341 pencils and 114 glue sticks.
We would like to thank the community for supporting our school supply drive. It was so nice to see so many people come out for the event. Some even used this event to teach their children about how important it is to give to others.
Glasswater Creek plans to separate the items into several donation bags to help as many local schools as possible.
