As the COVID-19 virus continues to affect our nation, Glasswater Creek of Lafayette’s creative team has worked hard to develop meaningful ways to serve our residents each day. We have increased daily check-ins to ensure they are doing well. Delicious meals are making their ways to residents in their apartments, and fun activities have been adapted to keep residents engaged while practicing social distancing and other health and safety precautions. Spirits are high!

The Glasswater Creek Team has hosted events such as a mobile library, themed snack carts, mobile country store, themed Bingo, coloring contests, trivia and more. When the going gets tough, the Glasswater Creek Team knows how to persevere.

Residents have sat in the doorway of their individual apartments, wearing a mask, as we utilized programs such as Microsoft Teams. This allowed us to merge phone calls throughout our three floors of our community for a large bingo operation. Themes such as Funny Bunny, Lucky Dog Lotto Bingo and Mystery Bingo have provided fun ways for our residents to have fun and earn some neat prizes.

Be sure to like us on Facebook to participate in our weekly coloring contest voting. Each week, our residents have the opportunity to color a select design. Once the design is colored and we have received them back by the deadline, we are uploading our entries to our Facebook page and asking for your help! Liking the photo of your favorite helps one lucky resident in our community win a gift card for a delicious restaurant in town that is providing delivery service. Helping our local small businesses and giving our residents a fun chance to win is important to the Glasswater Creek Team.

Families have also been able to connect with residents via the Microsoft Teams App. If you have a loved one or friend you would like to connect with, please contact our marketing department at 765-477-1140 to get your video chat scheduled.

We created root beer floats and “floated” down the hallways to check in on each resident. We made nachos and cheese for a “nacho average time in life due to the virus”. We “popped in” with popcorn to check in on residents. These were just a few of the fun treats we have delivered.

As we enter into May, with no sign of social distancing restrictions lifting in the near future, we are asking for help from our local community! Mothers are such an influence in one’s life. Whether it’s a biological relationship, a friend that you trust and love like a mother, or another relative or arranged situation, we are reassured that the word “Mom” brings a memory to us all.  As Mother’s Day approaches, we want to thank our residents for their love, influence and guidance they have provided to those they know and love along the way. If you would like to send a Mother’s Day card to one of our residents, please send to MoM, c/o Brittany Brown 208 Beck Lane, Lafayette, IN 47909! We will deliver them to our residents on Mother’s Day.

Glasswater Creek is still accepting applications during this time. Virtual tours, video conferencing, email and many other avenues are available to check out our beautiful community and get the application process going.

Sending you a virtual hug and heathy wishes!
