Cambridge House Administrator Scott Douglas declared October Experience Something New Month, challenging our residents to get out of their comfort zones and try something new.
Whether it was attending exercise classes or walking around the building for the first time, each time residents had a new experience, their names were entered into a drawing for a prize.
Dozens of the residents have taken him up the challenge, doing all sorts of things for the first time.
We have had several new people come to Tai Chi, and many of them have returned to class over and over again. Some have joined our craft class — even though they say they are not artistic and still did well.
Even our more active residents who thought they couldn’t find something new used our fitness room as a challenge. A few gentlemen played Nintendo Wii Golf for the first time.
The month is not quite over, and we can’t wait to see who will come to the next new activity. This challenge has been a big boost to our activity challenge, and we hope the trend will continue!
