The Prairie Living at Chautaqua affordable assisted living community in Carbondale combines residential apartment home living with the availability of personal assistance, support services and opportunities for residents to enjoy the companionship of friends and neighbors and to participate in social events and programs.
The two-story building features a Frank Lloyd Wright prairie-style design and houses 75 studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments. Each apartment at has its own kitchenette, private bathroom with shower, and emergency response system. Community areas include an activity room, beauty/barber shop, dining room, library, living room with fireplace, patio and television lounge. The library is dedicated to the memory of Illinois Senator Paul Simon.
Certified nurses assistants are on-duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide the personal assistance needed by residents. They work under the direction of the community’s licensed nursing staff.
